True Spirit and the Power to survive in the “World of Chance”

Last night, we invited full-time instructor Osamu Tatsumura to join us on YouTube Live to celebrate the 400th Shinkiko Retreat seminar. In the 35 years since this seminar began in 1990, we have seen many events, such as the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, the Great East Japan Earthquake, and the eruption of Mount Aso, but we have been able to continue the course every month without incident, and I cannot help but feel that we have been strongly supported by positive “Ki.”

Incidentally, human abilities can be categorized into “cognitive abilities” and “non-cognitive abilities.” While cognitive abilities are intellectual abilities that can be measured through tests, such as knowledge and logical thinking, non-cognitive abilities refer to “mental strength” and “social strength” that cannot be measured numerically, such as “perseverance,” “self-esteem,” “cooperation,” “self-control,” and “creativity.” These can be said to be the “power to live” and “humanity” that are essential for enriching one’s life.

Our lives do not always go according to plan. There is a “world of coincidences” that includes unexpected encounters, sudden troubles, unexpected good fortune and bad luck. In order to thrive in this world of coincidences, not only cognitive abilities but also non-cognitive abilities are extremely important.

I believe that this world of coincidences is deeply connected to the world of “Ki,” which science has yet to fully grasp. We all live within the invisible energy of Ki, and the quality of the “coincidences” that occur around us changes greatly depending on whether the Ki we are strongly influenced by is “positive” or “negative.” If you are easily supported by positive Ki, you will be blessed with good connections and opportunities, but if you are strongly influenced by negative Ki, trouble and misfortune will pile up.

So, while improving your non-cognitive abilities is certainly very important in enriching your life, it is also important to improve your “Ki” and always be in a state where you are supported by positive Ki. This is because no matter how high your non-cognitive abilities are, if you are constantly influenced by negative Ki, it will be difficult for you to demonstrate your true potential.

So what should we do? Positive and negative Ki that match the wavelength of the Ki emanating from our hearts gather around us, so the first thing we need to do is to make our own state of mind as positive as possible. Furthermore, the energy of Shinkiko from the universe penetrates our souls and increases the energy of our Ki. This makes it easier to match our wavelength with positive Ki.

Combining the efforts to improve non-cognitive abilities and the practice of enhancing your Ki with Shinkiko will enable you to lead the “world of chance” that is life in a more advantageous and happy direction.
