In my sessions, too, I frequently hear people say, “I haven’t been sleeping well lately.” Prolonged sleep deprivation not only leads to daytime lethargy and reduced concentration but can also make you prone to feeling down; therefore, it is best to address these sleepless nights sooner rather than later.

From a medical standpoint, insomnia in this age group is often linked to autonomic nervous system imbalances caused by a decline in female hormones. Disruptions in hormonal balance can keep the body in a state of tension even at night, making it difficult to fall asleep or causing frequent awakenings. Stress from child-rearing, caregiving, and work also affects nighttime sleep. Basic measures generally include adjusting bedroom temperature and humidity, avoiding smartphone use before bed, and relaxing the body through bathing or light stretching.

However, if you still cannot sleep despite addressing these factors, it is necessary to investigate the cause from the perspective of Ki (life energy). Being strongly influenced by negative Ki can cause negative emotions to become fixated in your mind; this may explain why your thoughts won’t stop racing, even when you consciously try not to overthink things. Furthermore, as the Ki of Shinkiko permeates your being, it can reach negative Ki—originating from your ancestors—that had been lying hidden deep within. Some of these negative energies actively conspire to hinder the progress of individuals within the family line, and the simplest method they employ is to prevent sleep. I have encountered people who found it difficult to sleep specifically on the night before a session with me; this is a classic example of that phenomenon.

From the perspective of Ki (vital energy), the first step is to receive Shinkiko—specifically, by recharging your energy using Hi-Genki devices or Ki products, and by utilizing Ki applicators or items designed for use while sleeping. As positive Ki flows into your body, the process of dispelling negative Ki can naturally induce drowsiness; we often hear people say, “Since I started receiving Shinkiko, I’ve been able to sleep soundly for the first time in ages.” We also recommend the habit of “looking for the good”—reflecting before bed on the positive things that happened during the day—to help shift your mindset toward the positive.

On the other hand, some forms of negative energy seek to exert a lingering influence by actually inducing daytime drowsiness. When this happens, try shifting your mindset with a few simple actions—such as giving yourself a pep talk, moving your body, drinking water, or taking deep breaths. Let’s aim for a healthy balance: sleeping soundly at night and staying alert and active during the day, all while receiving Shinkiko energy.

“I can’t fall asleep even after getting into bed,” or “I wake up in the middle of the night and stay awake until morning”—it seems an increasing number of women in their 40s and 50s are experiencing nights like these.
