Shinkiko retreat seminar is held in Hiroshima Prefecture every two years. Previously, it was held on Miyajima Island, but this year it’s being held at Kanda Sanso in Higashi Ward, Hiroshima City. Kanda Sanso’s official name is the Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Survivors’ Treatment and Research Center, and I cannot help but feel the strong presence of unseen beings in making it possible to hold the training course here.

Today was the first day, so we started with introductions from everyone who had gathered here by chance. Since there were some first-time participants, we showed them a video of my father as a predecessor.

This video features my predecessor recounting how he learned the structure of High Genki from a white-bearded old man in a dream in 1986, how he became able to emit Ki, and the circumstances that led to him starting Shinkiko retreat seminar. It was recorded in September 1994 during the Shinkiko retreat seminar held in Ikoma at the time. My predecessor passed away in December of the following year, 1995, so this is a record from about a year before his death. He is memorable for his humorous and entertaining way of speaking, interspersed with jokes such as, “People who are with me become able to emit Ki, it’s like an infectious disease.”

After my predecessor passed away, I edited this video, and I’ve been using it ever since for the past 30 years. All of the monthly retreat seminar were videotaped, so when he passed away, he left behind a huge number of tapes. I selected the best ones from those tapes to create this video, and I remember that this month’s seminar was the only one where the pacing of the lecture was good, the content was interesting, and all the key points were condensed into a single lecture. Looking back at the timeline now, I realized that my predecessor had visited a Hopi village in America with Dr. Ryoichi Obitsu in August 1994, and this retreat seminar took place immediately after his return. I’ve watched this video so many times, but I never noticed that until now.

My predecessor, having been involved in treating those exposed to radiation from the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, consistently stated that uranium, whether used peacefully or for weapons, and especially from the mining stage, degrades the Earth’s energy environment. The Hopi tribe is said to have been involved in the uranium mining for the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, and the fact that a video of his visit to their village was shown here feels deeply significant.

I feel that the fact that we were able to hold this Shinkiko retreat seminar at Kanda Sanso, so close to the heart of Hiroshima, is itself a manifestation of the wishes of those unseen. I hope that this light will reach many people, including everyone gathered here today.

Shinkiko retreat seminar in Hiroshima began today.
